What are functional skills?
Gaining qualifications is very important for learners of all ages. Functional skills are qualifications that give people a chance to proceed in their respective fields of their choice. It can be used for many things like going into higher education courses such as nursing and teaching, and for opening up more employment opportunities. This qualification will be accepted in most major Universities and employers as a GCSE grade C equivalent. The main reason for it growing in popularity is because of how accessible it is for everyone. Many learners who are wanting another chance at gaining qualifications may have other everyday responsibilities to attend to so this is perfect for them too.
Functional skills are a pass or fail qualification. So the most important thing is to get a pass mark that can range between 50% – 60% depending on the exam, and you will be awarded with a certificate and the qualification. The first step in this whole process would be to get registered with an Ofqual regulated exam center such as Pass Functional Skills. They will help set you up and get you as prepared as you can be with things like course materials. Every learner needs to be as prepared as possible so they have the best chances of passing. The exams can be taken anytime all year round which is another great bonus to have. Especially in comparison to the actual GCSE exams that can only be taken a couple of times a year. Functional skills can also be taken in the comfort of your own home if you wish to do so. Flexibility being another key aspect of this qualification.
